One workspace per company
Client data is never mixed: every company has its own workspace with its own accounts, categories and transactions. You switch between them without logging in again.
Run management accounting for several clients in separate workspaces, give each person the right access level and keep the change history at hand.
Financist helps accountants, finance managers and consultants run management accounting for several clients: each company has its own workspace, roles limit access, an audit log records changes, and bank statements are imported through Claude MCP with a preview first. It is management accounting, not a replacement for tax reporting.
Financist fits if you help business owners see their money: you collect statements every month, sort them into categories, prepare a cash flow and profit and loss report, and watch debts and the payment calendar. It helps to have one tool the owner can also open and see the same figures.
The main boundary: Financist does management accounting. It does not file tax returns, does not replace your bookkeeping software and does not produce statutory source documents. The difference between the two approaches is explained in the guide to management versus financial accounting.
Client data is never mixed: every company has its own workspace with its own accounts, categories and transactions. You switch between them without logging in again.
There are four system roles — owner, administrator, observer and responsible employee — plus custom roles. Access can be limited to specific accounts and projects.
Changes to roles, employees, invitations, settings, automation rules and budgets are recorded. Tool calls made through Claude MCP are audited as well.
Drop a statement into a Claude chat; it parses the rows and prepares an import with duplicate detection and category suggestions.
Documents are linked to payments, and payment requests go through approval chains.
Cash flow, profit and loss, balance sheet, debt and payment calendar reports export to CSV that opens in Excel. A JSON backup of the workspace is available too.
Add Financist as a custom connector in Claude, sign in and choose the client’s workspace. Turn on read-only mode if you need it.
Give Claude a PDF, CSV, screenshot or text. It extracts the rows and looks at the workspace’s accounts and categories.
Before anything is written you see how many transactions are new, how many are duplicates or transfers between your own accounts, plus warnings about mismatched totals or balances.
The import runs only after you confirm. For seven days it can be undone with a token, as long as the transactions are not yet reconciled.
| Does | Does not |
|---|---|
| Tracks accounts, transactions, debts, assets and stock | File tax returns or statutory reports with authorities |
| Builds cash flow, profit and loss and balance sheet reports | Replace bookkeeping software with journal entries |
| Imports statements via Claude MCP and CSV | Sync with banks or accounting programs |
| Roles, visibility and an audit log | Give legal opinions on compliance |
The Claude connection uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE. Claude’s effective permissions are the overlap of what you allowed on the consent screen and your role’s current permissions: if a role is downgraded, the change applies immediately. In read-only mode write tools are not available. Connections can be revoked in the web interface. See the security page for more. The product is in early access.
Yes. Each company gets its own workspace, data is not mixed between workspaces, and you switch between them from one login. Employee permissions are set separately in every workspace.
No. It is management accounting: money, profitability, debts and plans. Tax returns, statutory documents and journal entries stay in your bookkeeping software, and Financist complements them with reports the owner can understand.
Access is granted through OAuth on a consent screen, can be limited to read-only mode and revoked at any time. Claude’s permissions never exceed those of your role, and tool calls are recorded in the audit log.
Cash flow, profit and loss, balance sheet, debt and payment calendar reports export to CSV, as do budgets and transaction lists. A JSON backup of the whole workspace can be created by a user with the right permission.
