Terms used in the answers

Management accounting
Accounting for internal decisions by owners and finance people: how much money there is, where it comes from and where it goes. Unlike bookkeeping, it is not meant for filing reports with tax authorities.
Cash flow statement
A report on money received and paid over a period, broken down by category, account, counterparty or project.
Profit and loss
A report on income and expenses over a period, from which gross, operating and net profit are derived. In Financist it can be built on an accrual or a cash basis.
Workspace
An isolated set of one company’s data: accounts, transactions, documents, budgets and users. One user can have access to several workspaces.
Business Health
A composite score of business condition based on five indicators: net profit margin, liquidity, runway, revenue growth and the ratio of debt to equity.
MCP
Model Context Protocol, an open protocol through which an external service connects to an AI assistant. Through it Claude can work with Financist, for example to import bank statements.

Frequently asked questions

What is Financist and who is it for?

Financist is a management accounting web service for small and mid-sized businesses, including hospitality businesses. It collects accounts, transactions, debts and budgets, builds reports and includes an AI assistant. It suits owners and finance people who want a clear picture of their money without complex spreadsheets.

How does management accounting differ from bookkeeping?

Management accounting serves internal decisions: how much money there is, what will happen to it, which lines of business are profitable. Bookkeeping produces statutory reporting as required by law. Financist is management accounting, so it does not replace an accountant or bookkeeping software.

What does “early access” mean?

The service already works but is still evolving, and some capabilities are missing, such as automatic bank synchronisation. Access terms for individual teams are agreed one by one, and pricing has not been announced. A demo with sample data is available without signing up.

How much does Financist cost?

Pricing has not been announced, so we do not name an amount. The demo opens without signing up or payment details. When pricing is approved, we will publish it on the Pricing page. To discuss access with your own data, write to us.

What language is the app interface in?

The app interface is currently in Ukrainian. This website is available in Ukrainian, English and Czech. You enter the names of accounts, categories, counterparties and projects yourself, so you can use any names in your books.

Which reports does Financist have?

Five reports: cash flow, profit and loss, balance sheet, debts with ageing, and the payment calendar. There is also a dashboard with income, expenses, profit and a Business Health score. Every figure can be drilled down to the transactions behind it.

Are multiple currencies and multiple companies supported?

Yes. Accounts can be in different currencies, exchange rates are kept by source, and reports are shown in the workspace’s base currency. Several legal entities can be kept inside one workspace, and separate companies are best kept in separate workspaces that one user can switch between.

How do I load bank statements?

You can import a CSV file, or connect Claude and ask it to import a statement (PDF, CSV, screenshot or text): Financist shows a preview with duplicates and transfers and writes the data only after you confirm. There is no automatic bank synchronisation at the moment.

What can the AI assistant do, and can it change my data?

The assistant answers questions about accounts, reports, debts, budgets and documents within your permissions. For changes to the books, such as creating a transaction, it first shows a preview and acts only after your confirmation. Background tasks only suggest changes.

How do I connect Claude to Financist?

In Claude’s settings, add a custom connector with Financist’s address, sign in to the service, choose a workspace and, if you wish, tick read-only mode. The connection uses OAuth, can be revoked, and every tool call is recorded in the audit log.

Where is my data stored and who can access it?

Data is stored on servers in the EU (Germany). Each workspace is isolated from the others, and access inside a workspace is defined by roles and individual permissions. An employee can see only the accounts assigned to them. See the Security page for more.

Can I export my data?

Yes. A full copy of workspace data can be exported as a JSON file, and reports and transaction lists as CSV. Export requires the relevant permission. Importing a copy fully replaces a workspace’s business data, so it asks for separate confirmation first.

Does the website use cookies or trackers?

This marketing website uses no cookies and no analytics trackers. After sign-in, the app itself stores technical session data and interface settings needed to work. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

How do I get access for my team?

Try the demo, then write to us through the contact page: describe your business, the number of accounts and your current accounting tools. We will agree early access terms and set up a workspace and roles for your colleagues.
